Certified Instructor: Sheri Hinrichs

Sheri graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. She graduated summa cum laude, “with highest honors” from OSU by maintaining a 4.0 GPA in her major. Since graduation, she has taught seventh and eighth grade mathematics in the Richardson Independent School District , sixth grade math and science in the Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD. Currently she is teaching fourth grade math at the Hockaday Private School in Dallas, one of the most prestigious all girls private school in the nation. While teaching in Richardson, she served on the Teacher Leadership Collaboration Team, in which a select group of teachers are chosen to make decisions regarding curriculum development and write benchmark exams for the entire district. She was also given the opportunity to apply these skills in HEB and currently aids in writing the seventh grade mathematics curriculum in Richardson. With her curriculum development background and teaching experiences, Sheri has the skills necessary to

• create lessons that are directly aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) guidelines,
• facilitate a learning environment that provides an opportunity for all children (visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners) to actively participate in their education,
• and analyze student data for areas of strengths and weaknesses in order to assess the understanding of taught concepts and develop a plan to improve weak areas.

Besides curriculum writing, Sheri also sponsors district-wide clubs such as Teens Offering Peer Support and attends professional development courses on a regular basis to stay current with new teaching techniques.

During the summer months, Sheri has devoted her time to teaching eighth grade mathematics to students who did not pass for the year, serving as a Pre-AP Summer Lab teacher for incoming 7th graders to prepare them for Pre-Algebra, and tutoring children in all levels of mathematics.
